This year, the annual Out & About Baby Lunch Out Loud is bigger and better than ever. With a festive Italian feast that even Sophia Loren would be proud of, there’s no better way to spend a day than with your mum friends all while raising money and awareness for a good cause.
Wednesday 25th October 2017
Below, a preview of the feast, details of the cause and our lunching mum approved-outfit edit to get you on your way.
- A beautiful and abundant lunch at Fratelli Fresh Entertainment Quarter

The best part of buying a ticket is that a percentage of the proceeds supports PANDA – Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia.
Each year in Australia, 1 in 7 new mums and 1 in 10 men experience postnatal anxiety and depression.
When anxiety or depression begins sometime in the year after birth it is referred to as postnatal anxiety or postnatal depression. It can be a frightening and isolating experience as parents try to deal with their symptoms at the same time as needing to care for a new baby, and sometimes other children as well.
Everyday, all around the world, there are parents who are struggling with their emotional health. Pregnancy and parenthood is a period of great change and it is common to experience a range of emotions, both positive and negative in response to these changes.
It is really difficult to learn how to be a parent, and extremely difficult adjusting to the needs and behaviours of a new baby. Especially when you are feeling sore, exhausted and perhaps even distressed by your birth experience.
If you are struggling to understand your thoughts or feelings and it is affecting your day-to-day activities, it is important to seek support and understand why it is that you feel this way.
Fratelli Fresh is where great conversation joins together with delicious food and wine to create “gioie della tavola” (“the joys of the table”). You will be wined and dined over an abundant and delicious lunch that even Mr DaVinci himself would be impressed with. The flavours are simple and big, the portions are generous, and the menu is extensive.
Bring your little one along too. There will be professional childcare and activities for children 6 weeks to 6 years old on site on the day.
Spaces are limited, so please reserve your child’s place at the same time as booking your ticket. Spots are $10per child and they must have their place booked and confirmed prior to the event.
Young babies who will happily sit on your lap are welcome to stay with you.
Laura Ruston, Out & About Baby
Out & About Baby began with Laura’s search for clean baby change rooms in locations that served really good coffee and avo toast. For the answer, she travelled far and wide, drank a lot of coffee, changed a lot of nappies, breastfed in lots of strange places and talked endlessly to her mothers’ group. On any given day, she is discovering, reviewing and approving the best of the best when it comes to going out with your baby.
Jen Hamilton, WotBaby
Jen is a mum to 3 kids, and has over 27 years experience as a mothercraft nurse. After having worked for both Karitan and Tresillian she has since gone on to launch WotBaby and helped thousands of families learn to adapt to life as a new parent.
The Dress Code
The nature of Italian feasts can mean a sartorial free-for-all, meaning you can play it fast and loose with hemlines, necklines, and prints and still fit right in. The one thing that’s non-negotiable? Keep it comfortable. Because what modern mum has the time to worry about aching blisters and jackets that don’t let you pick up a toddler.
