Copo Cafe & Diner in Drummoyne ticks a lot of boxes. Finding a place that is accessible, has easy parking, no queues, Wi-Fi, is kid-friendly and kind to our gluten-free friends can be a tall order, but Copo has done it, and definitely checked it twice.
Try the unique South-American inspired bistro food in a bright and airy spot over 2 floors, with chunky wooden tables, huge mural, indoor plants and a terrace. It’s one of the best places in Sydney’s Inner West to enjoy a healthy freshly prepared meal with a Campos coffee or a South American inspired drink.
The kitchen smokes its own chicken and trout, preserves its own pickles, makes mascarpone from scratch and plucks herbs from a rooftop garden. The menu leans to Latino (South American-style baked beans with chorizo), perhaps a little Morocco (cumin-flavoured baked eggplant and eggs served in a pan topped with fresh dill) and classic comfort food (bubble and squeak, porridge with rhubarb and homemade toasted muesli). The great service and a bright fit-out are bonuses.
This two-storey café is listed as Victoria Road, Drummoyne but it’s actually hidden around the back on the Formosa Street side where the entrance runs right off a handy little council parking lot. When the weather is fine make a beeline for the stairs and head up into the open covered terrace.
There is a free council carpark directly next door to Copo, however be warned, on weekends it can fill up quickly. Street parking is also available.
