Established in 1960 and opened in 1964, the Museum of Transportation and Technology provides a hands-on exhibit of science and technology as its foundation. Located in Auckland, New Zealand, MOTAT offers a fun, interactive and educational experience for all to experience (namely kids). If you’re ever in Auckland, take a visit to the MOTAT and allow your little one to really explore their exhibitions that covers the history and development of NZ transport, technology and the Kiwi ingenuity.
MOTAT is also home to a vast collection of aircraft and land transport vehciles, used both for day to day use and even in the military. If your little one loves his history, you just know they’ll love this place.

Feel free to visit the original Pumphouse, or wander through their hisotic village. If you’re feeling special, take a ride on teh heritage train to the Aviation Display Hall, home to one of the largest aviation collections in the Southern Hemisphere. You can’t miss that!
If your little one has had enough of learning, MOTAT is also home to a small indoor play-room that is desgiend for younger children aged 1-5.
MOTAT is located close to the Western Spring Stadium, Auckland Zoo and the Western Springs Park. This serves as a great, central location to really explore Auckland and some iconic landmarks and urban architecture.
The museum itself is a 10minute drive from the Auckland CBD with bus accessibility available. There are regular seasonal events that are great for kids and families!
